An active lifestyle can help protect against developing cancer, study of link between physical activity and the disease confirmsGardening, doing housework and walking the dog can reduce the risk of developing breast cancer by up to 13%, according to research. The findings, from the largest ever study of the link between physical activity and the disease, have confirmed that an active lifestyle can help protect against developing cancer. In 8,000 women examined by researchers on the European Prospective Investigation of Cancer (Epic) those who were the most active were 13% less likely to get breast cancer than those who were inactive. Women who were moderately active run an 8% lower risk, added the study, published in the International Journal of Cancer and funded by Cancer Research UK.The re... read more..

Effects Of Exercise-Beneficial Effects-Systematic Review-Exercise Programs-Interventions
CONCLUSIONS: This systematic review indicates that exercise may have beneficial effects at varying follow-up periods on HRQoL and certain HRQoL domains including physical functioning, role function, social functioning, and fatigue. Positive effects of exercise interventions are more pronounced with moderate- or vigorous-intensity versus mild-intensity exercise programs. The positive results must be interpreted cautiously because of the heterogeneity of exercise programs tested and measures used to assess HRQoL and HRQoL domains, and the risk of bias in many trials. Further research is required to investigate how to sustain positive effects of exercise over time and to determine essential attributes of exercise (mode, intensity, frequency, duration, timing) by cancer type and cancer treatme... read more..

Effects Of Exercise-Beneficial Effects-Systematic Review-Exercise Programs-Cancer Treatment
CONCLUSIONS: This systematic review indicates that exercise may have beneficial effects on HRQoL and certain HRQoL domains including cancer-specific concerns (e.g. breast cancer), body image/self-esteem, emotional well-being, sexuality, sleep disturbance, social functioning, anxiety, fatigue, and pain at varying follow-up periods. The positive results must be interpreted cautiously due to the heterogeneity of exercise programs tested and measures used to assess HRQoL and HRQoL domains, and the risk of bias in many trials. Further research is required to investigate how to sustain positive effects of exercise over time and to determine essential attributes of exercise (mode, intensity, frequency, duration, timing) by cancer type and cancer treatment for optimal effects on HRQoL and its doma... read more..

Liposomal Nanoparticles-Therapeutic Efficacy-Systemic Treatment-Treatment Response
ConclusionComorbidity influences systemic treatment uptake and adversely affects survival, with impact dependent upon comorbidity and cancer type. Clinical trials should be undertaken in older patients to better understand the risks and benefits of cancer treatments. (Source: Annals of Oncology) read more..
Changes in survival by ethnicity of patients with cancer between 1992-1996 and 2002-2006: is the discrepancy decreasing?
ConclusionsProgress has been made in decreasing disparities in survival between nHw and minorities in breast cancer, prostate cancer, and NHL. Little progress has been made in reducing disparities for the other studied cancers. (Source: Annals of Oncology) read more..
Assessment of therapeutic efficacy of liposomal nanoparticles mediated gene delivery by molecular imaging for cancer therapy.
In conclusion, the combination of noninvasive imaging techniques and liposomal nanoparticle can provide a practical and clinically useful way for gene delivery and monitoring the level of gene expression over time and treatment response in patients undergoing gene therapy.
